Nordhoff too much for San Marcos

The Nordhoff Rangers improved to 5-0 on the season tonight with a commanding 48-7 victory over the San Marcos Royals (5-1). It did not take NHS long to establish their dominance as they jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and then they would extend their lead to 41-0 at the half. Quarterback Tanner Workman touchdown passes to Austin Wolcott, Brandon Wadsworth and Jake Boyd. Senior running back Matt Woodcock scored two rushing touchdowns and fellow running back Tayler Livingston added another rushing score in the third quarter. Boyd also threw a touchdown pass to Taylor Brown on a trick play. The NHS defense was stellar as they have been all season and the Royals were unable to get anything going on offense. With the win tonight, head coach Tony Henney has notched his 50th victory as the lead man at Nordhoff. Hear his thoughts on the victory and his 50th career with in Wednesday's OVN.

Nordhoff defeats Thousand Oaks for second time

The Nordhoff Rangers played their best football of the season when they needed it the most as they outplayed, outhustled and outcoached the Thousand Oaks Lancers en route to an exciting 28-10 victory. The Rangers set the tone early and used their running game to control the clock and their defense limited the number of big plays Thousand Oaks made on the night. Senior running back Tayler Livingston gained more than 100 yards on the ground and he found the end zone two times for the Rangers. Quarterback Tanner Workman was efficient and played his best game of the season. Workman threw touchdown passes to Brandon Wadsworth and Emmett Johnsen and made big throws when the Rangers needed them the most. The win was their second in as many years against the Lancers and puts NHS back in the mix as one of the elite teams in the CIF-Southern Section. For more details on the Rangers' huge victory and to hear quotes from head coach Tony Henney and junior linebacker Shane Hersh, see Wednesday's OVN.

Rangers pound Pacifica, 44-7

The Nordhoff Rangers used a 28-point second quarter to defeat the Pacifica Tritons 44-7 tonight as they improve to 2-0 on the season. Seniors Tayler Livingston, Matt Woodcock and Brandon Wadsworth all scored rushing touchdowns despite the Tritons doing a decent job stopping the NHS rushing attack. The Rangers were able to do some damage through the air, however. Senior quarterback Tanner Workman threw three touchdowns, including two perfect passes to wide out Jake Boyd. Senior tight end Austin Wolcott also caught a touchdown. The NHS defense was stellar as well tonight. They only surrendered one big play on the night and senior Alex Esquivel recorded a safety. Junior Nick Sterling also had an interception. Nordhoff enters their bye week with a 2-0 record. See Wednesday's OVN for more stats and details on their big win over the Tritons.
