Nordhoff edges Oak Park in league opener

It was not pretty, but the Nordhoff Rangers defeated the Oak Park Eagles, 20-12 tonight. The two teams went scoreless for most of the first half before each team added touchdowns late in the second quarter. Both the Rangers and Eagles missed their extra points, making the score 6-6 at the half.

In the second half, the Rangers took a 13-6 lead when running back Matt Woodcock threw a touchdown to Jake Kunde. Hannah Greene added the extra point to give the Rangers a touchdown advantage. The Eagles came right back and added a touchdown, but they missed their second extra point of the night and NHS led 13-12 in the fourth quarter.

Late in the game, Oak Park had the ball and was moving but senior Brad Sloan made a great play on the ball and intercepted the pass and returned the ball to the Oak Park two-yardline. From there, Tanner Workman scored on a quarterback keeper making the score 20-12. The win takes the Rangers to 7-0 overall on the season.
