Rangers win in Compton, going to CIF Finals

Nordhoff wins 13-8 on a Tayler Livingston touchdown run and two field goals by Cooper Garcia. More details to be posted later.

***Update***

Tonight the Nordhoff Rangers qualified for the CIF-SS Finals after defeating the Compton - Centennial Apaches, 13-8. NHS jumped out to a 13-0 first half lead and then they were able to hang on to the 13-8 win. The Rangers and Apaches went back-and-forth late in the game and NHS did not punch their ticket to the finals until late the final seconds of the game.

Tayler Livingston was the workhorse for the Rangers tonight as he rushed for nearly 200 yards and scored Nordhoff's only touchdown of the game. Sophomore Cooper Garcia booted field goals of 42 and 47 yards, which proved to be the difference in the game. The NHS defense was stellar and several players had big games. Senior Brad Sloan made a few huge plays for the Rangers.

With the win, the Rangers have earned a trip to CIF Finals where they will face the North Torrance Saxons (11-2). See next week's OVN for more information on tonight's game and the CIF Finals.
